New Location

As well as using the Seward Studio for our video, we've found another location through a friend at school.  We all looked at the website and saw this location is amazing.

www.lordshippark.com/home

This photographic studio has been used for photoshoots with many celebrities such as Cheryl Cole, Kate Moss and JLS and we were lucky enough to get it for free from 10am - 5pm on Saturday 6th November.  Originally we were planning to film the whole video in the Seward Studio and just take the promo shots at Lordship Park but when me and Ciara showed Ms Blackborow the location she really liked it and we realised it was too good a location to not use to shoot when we so easily could.  So instead of shooting in the Seward Studio in the morning of Saturday 6th November and going to Lordship Park in the afternoon, we have cancelled the shoot at the Seward Studio (just shooting there on Thursday) and going straight to Lordship Park on Saturday.

The location has four different levels, each with a different theme which you can see on the website.  I think we can use this alot and make something really effective.  I think using two locations will look so much more effective for our music video.  One location may have got abit boring or repetitive so using Lordship Park will give the video a whole other perspective and will make it look so professional as it is a professional studio.  As the location looks so rich and expensive, we want to play on this having all the boys in suits, breifcases etc. mocking the city lifestyle and in the Seward Studio will be the typical boyband clothes --> boots, tight v-necks, skinny jeans etc.

Dance Rehearsal Day

We had a dance rehearsal day on Tuesday 12th October at school. Jazzi Blackborow came in to teach us and the band a dance routine for our music video.  I was doing sound, taking pictures and filming.  Ciara learnt the dance with the boys so she could help them if they ever forgot and then worked with me on music and taking pictures.  Tom worked on the technical side, testing lighting and trying out all the different colours that we can use in the Seward Studio and Hugh worked with the band dancing. Overall I think the day was a big success.  All the boys were keen to learn the dance and took it seriously, they also get on very well and look good together as a group which will come accross on camera.  We filmed them learning the dance routine because this was the only day Jazzi Blackborow would be helping us so if we ever needed reminding of the dance we would have it on film.  Here are a few pictures I took that day..

Location Seward Studio

These are just a few shots I took of the seward studio when we had our dance rehearsal in there.  On the day of the actual shoot all the chairs would be put up so we would be able to use the entire floor space, the blinds would be down and we have complete control over the lights and can make them any colour we want so I think it will look really effective.

Shooting Locations
We want to film our whole music video in one location, the Seward Studio because its got everything we need and is easily accessible for us as its at school and doesn’t cost anything.  We initially did want a bar scene so if we did decide to use another location we would hire out a bar, here are some of the places we’ve been looking at..

Southgate Club - Southgate

Yum Yums – Stoke Newington

Our Song

After a lot of discussion and changing from our original idea of using Toms band, we’ve decided to use N Sync’s ‘Just Got Paid’ for our music video. N Sync were an American boy band who were huge in the 90’s and had many famous hits but ‘Just Got Paid’ was one of their smaller ones that didn’t have a video so we are able to use it.

The genre of the song is obviously classic pop boy band and our core target audience is teenage girls with secondary audiences of younger girls (6-12) and gay men.

The band is 5 boys – Hugh, Tom P, Tom O, Aaron and Jack.

We want them to be a mainstream pop band that would have a broad audience and mainstream marketing eg. Website, tv, radio, newspapers etc. widening their audience even further.  The video is very performance based with maybe a loose narrative, we haven’t finalised any ideas for our video yet.  We want to shoot the whole video in one location, the Seward Studio, focusing a lot on technical using floor lights, strobe lights, ceiling lights, haze machines, dry ice and making it look really professional.  We’re going to create a dance routine for the video as this is very conventional of boy bands and Jazzi Blackborow will be the choreographer for us.

We don’t want the band to look dated, like in the 90s, we want to go for a more modern and stylish look as this will appeal and attract more to the core target audience.  By creating an identity for the band and branding them, it will establish their target audience and sell them ultimately selling the music and making the money.

Idea for video
As the song is called ‘Just Got Paid’, we want them all to look very smart in suits, ties, scarves and holding briefcases at the start showing the audience money is a big part of the video and then throughout the video we’ll reveal their actual costumes of low v-necked t-shirts, low buttoned shirts, jeans and just the general boy band look, very sexy etc. appealing to the target audience.  This makes the band’s image very fun and shows they don’t take themselves too seriously as they mock the city lifestyle and the audience will be able to relate to this too making them feel more involved.  A couple of bands we could take references from are JLS and The Wanted.
